Carrick Stays Put at United as Kane Claims Ballon d'Or Glory

On Radio 5 Live, Kelly Somers brought together Andy Reid, Leon Osman, and Ian Dennis to dive into the news that Michael Carrick will continue as manager of Manchester United. This comes after a tough stretch of eight matches without a victory, despite speculation linking the club with Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann. Scott Saunders, a passionate Man Utd supporter, shared his thoughts on how the fans are reacting to Carrick's situation. Raphael Honigstein chimed in, providing insight into the ongoing rumors surrounding Nagelsmann and what they might mean for the club's future. The conversation then shifted to the exciting announcement that Harry Kane has clinched the Ballon d'Or, making him the first English player to achieve this honor since Michael Owen in 2001. Former England teammate Conor Coady joined the discussion, while Honigstein offered perspectives on how this victory is being celebrated in Germany and at Bayern Munich. Wrapping up the episode, London City Lionesses CEO Martin Semmens discussed the remarkable achievement of Alexia Putellas, who has won the Ballon d'Or Féminin for a third time, marking a significant milestone following her recent move to the Women’s Super League.
