No Sunday Showdown: What Happened to the 2pm Kick-Off?
In a surprising twist, this Sunday’s Premier League action will be missing the customary 14:00 GMT kick-off time slot. This weekend is an exception to the norm, where fans typically enjoy at least one game during that early afternoon window.
This season, the 2pm slot has been particularly popular, especially with several clubs juggling their commitments in both the Europa and Conference Leagues on Thursdays. Just last weekend, we saw four matches kick off early on Sunday, while only two were scheduled for the classic Saturday 15:00 time.
However, this weekend tells a different story. Football fans can look forward to five matches on Saturday at 15:00, but only one game on Sunday—Liverpool facing Arsenal in a 16:30 clash.
The reason behind the missing 2pm game is tied to Aston Villa's Champions League schedule. Their original match against Fulham was set for that time but has now been moved to Saturday at 20:00 due to Villa's upcoming Champions League encounter against Barcelona on November 3.
Sky Sports was initially slated to broadcast the Fulham game, and they will still cover the rearranged fixture. So, while the usual Sunday rhythm is disrupted, there’s still plenty of exciting football to look forward to this weekend.
