Ouattara's Equalizer Keeps Hull's Streak Alive Against Brentford
Hull City's unbeaten streak at home remains unbroken, yet the Tigers are still searching for their first win in seven matches after a 1-1 stalemate with Brentford at the MKM Stadium. The opener arrived in the 24th minute when Oli McBurnie converted a penalty after Aaron Hickey brought down Tim Iroegbunam in the box while attempting to clear the ball. McBurnie calmly placed the ball into the bottom right corner, and although Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher guessed correctly, he couldn’t prevent McBurnie from scoring his first Premier League goal in over 900 days. After halftime, Brentford capitalized on some lackluster defending from Hull. In the 63rd minute, Igor Thiago’s pass found Dango Ouattara, who coolly slotted it home to equalize for the Bees, much to Hull's dismay. Jaidon Anthony nearly put Brentford ahead with a shot that sailed just wide, followed by another attempt that forced a save from Konstantinos Tzolakis. However, Hull quickly countered, with Mohamed Belloumi racing forward, only to send his long-range effort over the bar. In the dying moments, Hull had a chance to snatch the win, but Mohamed-Ali Cho's cross to Joe Gelhardt resulted in a wayward shot, ensuring the Tigers would leave with just a point as their search for an away victory drags on. Both teams had to contend with debris on the pitch thanks to the strong winds from Storm Boelo in the opening exchanges. The first notable chance fell to Brentford after 11 minutes when Hickey took advantage of a Hull midfield error. His shot was easily saved by Tzolakis. A few minutes later, Belloumi found McBurnie in the box, but Brentford's Mathias Jensen intervened just in time to deny the Scotsman. Hickey then gave away a penalty in the 22nd minute by tripping Iroegbunam, setting up McBurnie to convert and put Hull ahead. After the equalizer from Ouattara, Belloumi sprinted towards the Brentford goal, but his long-range effort soared high into the stands. The final chance for Hull came when Cho crossed to Gelhardt, who missed the target, sealing a 1-1 draw that kept both sides unbeaten at home.
