Rangers Dominate St Johnstone; Dundee United Triumphs in Thrilling Clash
Rangers cruised to a 4-0 victory over St Johnstone at Ibrox, thanks to a stellar performance from Kevin Kelsy, who netted twice. Manager Derek McInnes had called for brilliance from his squad, and they delivered after a frustrating draw last week against Dundee.
The first half saw the Light Blues control the game, yet they only managed to find the net once before the break, with Kelsy scoring in the 29th minute. St Johnstone came out with renewed energy after halftime, but it was Rangers who struck again, with Ryan Naderi extending the lead in the 61st minute, followed by Kelsy's second just five minutes later.
The match took a turn for the worse for the visitors when Kai Fotheringham received a straight red card in the 74th minute for a reckless challenge on Nico Raskin. To cap off a fine afternoon for the home side, substitute Tochi Chukwuani added a fourth goal just before the final whistle.
McInnes reflected on the match, noting the irony of being so dominant yet only leading by one at halftime. He expressed his desire for his players to not just win but to strive for greatness on the pitch. Despite the missed chances, he praised the first-half performance, suggesting they should have been further ahead.
In another thrilling encounter, Dundee United edged Aberdeen 3-2 at Tannadice. Zidane Iqbal got United off the mark, only for Nesta Guinness-Walker to equalize for Aberdeen, both players celebrating their first goals for their respective teams.
Dylan Tait restored United's lead, but Connor Ronan leveled the score again after the break. However, Zac Sapsford's decisive goal secured all three points for Dundee United, propelling them up to fourth place, just one point behind Hearts.
Meanwhile, Falkirk climbed to seventh with a solid 3-0 win over Kilmarnock, thanks to two own goals from defenders Cathal McCarthy and George Stanger, along with a header from Jacob Murrell. St Mirren also ended their losing streak with a 2-1 victory against Dundee, featuring goals from Calvin Ramsay and Eseosa Sule before Bradley Fink pulled one back for the visitors.
