West Ham Parts Ways with Nuno Espirito Santo After Disappointing Start
West Ham United has decided to part ways with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after a frustrating start to their Championship campaign. The 52-year-old took charge in September 2025, leading the team through a tough relegation from the Premier League last season. Expected to be strong contenders for automatic promotion, the Hammers currently sit eighth in the standings, trailing leaders Middlesbrough by six points. Their recent form has been concerning, with just two victories in their last six matches, including back-to-back defeats at home—a narrow 3-2 loss to Southampton and a 3-1 setback against West Bromwich Albion last Saturday. Alongside Nuno, assistant coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also left the club. Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will take on interim responsibilities as they prepare for the upcoming Championship clash against Cardiff City on Wednesday night. In an official statement, West Ham United explained, "After a comprehensive review of the EFL Championship season's start, the board feels a change is necessary to keep the club's goals on track." The club expressed gratitude towards Nuno and his coaching staff for their dedication and wished them well in their future endeavors. The search for a new head coach is already underway, and fans will be eager to see who will take the helm next.
